Alexandria, VA, February 11, 2020 – Brady Augustine, formerly Chief of Health Systems Development for Florida’s Medicaid Program and Senior Advisor to the Administrator at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, has joined Applied Policy to lead its healthcare services division.

“Brady is an accomplished leader with more than 20 years of experience in improving programs and delivering results for health systems and other healthcare service providers,” said Applied Policy President Jim Scott. “I know from my time working with him at CMS that his extensive knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid programs across all 50 states as well as his work as an executive for providers and health plans will add to the strategic planning and value create for our clients.”

Prior to joining Applied Policy, Mr. Augustine led the bureau responsible for advancing Florida’s use of managed care to improve the value of health care delivered to Medicaid beneficiaries. During this time, the State developed new delivery models, including capitated provider service networks and specialty plans.

Mr. Augustine has also successfully served in various leadership roles at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including Senior Advisor to the Administrator, where he functioned as the Agency’s kidney disease and transplantation ‘czar’ directing the Agency’s $30 billion kidney disease program, and senior quality advisor, where he led value-based purchasing initiatives and chaired the workgroup responsible for leading CMS’ breakthrough initiatives.

Mr. Augustine holds an M.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Applied Discrete Mathematics from Auburn University.

Mr. Augustine adds even more depth to Applied Policy’s CMS expertise, joining former CMS Chief Administrative Officer John Voorhees, former CMS Physicians’ Regulatory Issues Team Lead Dr. Bill Rogers, and former CMS Legislative Advisor Kate Claessens. The Applied Policy team works under the leadership and direction of CEO and former CMS Senior Advisor Jim Scott to deliver value for organizations spanning the health care spectrum.

Mr. Augustine will lead Applied Policy’s healthcare services team, joining Melissa Andel, formerly of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, who leads Applied Policy’s pharmaceutical market access and reimbursement team and John Voorhees, who leads Applied Policy’s device and diagnostic team.
