On Saturday, November 11, 2017, the Light the Trail cycling team completed a 3,700 mile pedal across the country.  Light the Trail leaders Isaac Manning and Tom Harris started on their bikes in Oregon on September 1st and 72 days later arrived at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC, all in an effort to shed light on, and start a conversation about, depression related suicide.

Applied Policy was pleased to sponsor Light the Trail, which ultimately raised more than $1 million for the Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation.  On route the team spoke with people in 54 different cities and towns across the country sharing their stories related to depression and helping to remove the stigma attached to the condition.  “The goal” said Manning, “is for anyone struggling in silence with depression to know that there is hope and that suicide is never the choice.”

Congratulations to the entire Light the Trail team and thank you for your monumental effort.
