Julie Georgi

Georgi_Julie_WEBJulie Georgi is a Health Policy Manager at Applied Policy. She has more than five years of health IT and health policy experience working with various stakeholder groups including both vendors and physicians. At Applied Policy, Mrs. Georgi is a subject matter expert for health IT projects and provides support on various other health policy issues including physician and hospital payment, medical devices, and drug pricing.

Prior to joining AP, Mrs. Georgi led the development and implementation of an association-wide health IT policy plan at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) to transform the cardiology care team’s clinical experience through the effective use of IT. During her time at the ACC, Mrs. Georgi was the in-house subject matter authority on health IT policy. She developed educational tools and resources on matters related to the Meaningful Use Program, Qualified Clinical Data Registry participation, telemedicine, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs). Prior to the ACC, Mrs. Georgi was Associate Manager for State Government Affairs at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). At HIMSS, she focused on state and local government relationships as well as managing the organization’s Regional Extension Center Membership program. As the staff liaison to the HIMSS Chapter Advocacy Roundtable, Mrs. Georgi worked to advance advocacy initiatives at the chapter level through thought sharing and integrating innovative ideas. These included robust social media approaches to state advocacy days, leveraging engagement platforms to activate nationwide advocates, and the expanded use of the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM).

Mrs. Georgi also has extensive legislative experience which includes working for the New York State Assembly, the Michigan House of Representatives and former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm.

Mrs. Georgi received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science – Prelaw at Michigan State University, holds a certificate in Healthcare Information Technology from the University of Connecticut, and is a Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS). She is an active National Capital Area HIMSS Chapter member and is currently completing a Masters in Health Informatics at Northwestern University. She is expected to receive her degree in December 2018.
