Drew Saelens is a Senior Health Policy Manager at Applied Policy.  He has spent his ten-year career working with a diverse portfolio of stakeholders in the health care industry.  His professional experience includes work in pharmacy benefit management, patient advocacy, consulting and hospital systems.  Following the passage of the Affordable Care Act, he has spent much of his time assessing the legislation’s and its regulations’ impact on various constituencies.  He has worked within research organizations and coalitions to contribute feedback on strategic priorities and to provide policy analyses.  Mr. Saelens’ recent work includes analysis on behalf of patient organizations and pharmaceutical companies on the Life Sciences Investment Act, Least Costly Alternative (LCA) regulations, the National Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy, Medicare’s Initial Preventative Physical Examination (IPPE), cancer research funding and other legislative and regulatory initiatives.  Mr. Saelens holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The University of Richmond and is a Master of Business Administration and Master of Government dual degree candidate at The Johns Hopkins University.
